My Latest Accomplishment: “A Still Life of thee Pairs”

I just got an email from regarding to an image I uploaded to the Photo sharing site stating that my image reached the top 10% of all images within ViewBug.

Three bosch pairs on a wood board in Chiaroscuro lighting.

I was studying artists of the Renaissance like Rembrandt and Caravaggio who used chiaroscuro light to provide their scenes with dramatic contrast, shape & texture. Since the master’s lighting was rudimentary either by candle light or sunlight,, my lighting was slightly more sophisticated. I used a small warm spotlight shining through one half of those small interior window shudders. The backdrop is an upholstery¬† remnant posing as a tapestry. The candle, candle holder, and incense burner, I purchased at the Salvation Army Store. The vase from Walmart and the brush is part of last year’s decorative cinnamon scented broom. The piece of plywood, I picked out of my neighbors trash then rubbed it down with mineral oil. Click on the thumbnail below to view a larger copy of my image.
