Portraits Of Shelter Dogs

This project will be on going as long as I am able to photograph our homeless, Shelter dogs of the Pennsylvania SPCA. my purpose for this project is to somehow provide some dignity to these dogs.

Cover Photo:

Gram: Gram is a two year old Pit Bull Terrier who is going on two months old. Talking about High energy! This boy has got it. I wish he could give me some of his energy. Gram loves balls…balls of all kinds big balls, small balls, any ball. And he likes to tease you with it. when he has a ball in his mouth he’ll run straight at you, and at the last minute veer away with a playful grunt. Gram thinks his leash is a tug toy. But don’t let that pink nose fool you. He’s a very loving dog.

Tipitina:

Tipitina is a playfull-3 -year-old Chesapeake Bay Retriever/Pit Bull mix.

Last Spring when they were having all those floods near the Mississippi River floods, we were getting a lot of retrievers, Chesapeake Bay retrievers/pit bull mixes, they wee very popular in the shelter and very playful in the runs. Tipitina was one of them.I photographed in April of 2016.

Sandy:

This isĀ  Sandy, She is a large Pit Bull/mix 7 years old. I took her picture back in April of 2016.

Sandy is a large Pit Bull/mix 7 years old. I took her picture back in April of 2016. Unfortunately I did not spend as much time with her that I wanted to. So I can’t remember much about her, other than her stay in the shelter was short-lived and she was snatched up by loving family very quickly. Which is a good thing.

Gunny:

Meet Gunny. He is a 2 year old Coon hound.

Meet Gunny. He is a 2 year old Coon hound. Don’t let the big floppy ears fool you. This boy is a charmer. He loves people. He is very playful but can play too rough. I was lucky enough to be able to take gunny out of the stressful shelter and unwind, clear our heads and just hung out in various places around Philadelphia. He is good in the car as long as you crack a window so he can sniff the breeze. He has been known to be kind of a counter and table surfer and when he is left alone he can become bored and destructive.

If you want me to immortalize your dog…or cat, in a digital sketch just send me a picture of your pet and I’ll send you a sample, then it’s just a matter of sizing and framing as to what my final price would be.
